A Tax Clearance Certificate is a written confirmation from Irish Revenue that a person’s tax affairs are in order at the date of issue of the Certificate.
Tax clearance certificates issuing since April 1st 2015 have different expiry dates depending on when the certificate issued.
Certificates issued in the period 1st April 2015 to 30th June 2015 will have an expiry date of 31st December 2015.
Certificates issued in the period 1st July 2015 to 30th September 2015 will have an expiry date of 31st March 2016.
Certificates issued in the period 1st October 2015 to 31st December 2015 will have an expiry date of 30th June 2016.
This is a guide how to apply online for your tax clearance certificate for Self-Employed person or Company. A solicitor or an accountant may charge you €40 for doing that for you. And it is very easy and straightforward, you can do it in 10 minutes. You can follow the steps below.
STEP 1
Go to Revenue website www.revenue.ie.
Click on Tax Clearance.
STEP 2
Click on Apply for tax clearance certificate.
STEP 3
Enter your Name if you are self-employed and then click on Individual or;
Name of the company if it is company and then click on Company.
Enter your Tax number and click on tax which that number relates to: VAT, IT/CT, PAYE Employer. Then click on Continue.
STEP 4
Most Self-Employed persons and Companies are not in a VAT Group or you are not registered for VAT at all.
So click on No and then click on Continue.
STEP 5
If there is no shareholder owning more than 50% or you don’t know this information just click on No and then click on Continue.
STEP 6
Click on No and then click on Continue.
STEP 7
If it is not for any specific purpose indicated there like Grand Application etc. then,
click on Voluntary and click on Continue.
STEP 8
Enter your contact details, if Revenue wants to contact you:
- your Name,
- capacity: Individual, Director, Secretary, Tax Agent etc.,
- your phone number.
Then click on Finish.
STEP 9
This is Summary of your Application with all your details you have entered.
Double-check if there are no errors, mainly check name spelling and tax number.
If all details are OK, print this page for your records and then click on Confirm.
STEP 10
This is Confirmation page. Print this page or write down Confirmation number and date for your records.
